ARTIST STATEMENT

Black and white portrait of a young man with styled hair and a beard, resting his chin on his hand. His face has handwritten words including 'calmness of mind', 'fear', 'boundaries', 'independent', 'free', 'speech', and 'French' written across his face.

Every artwork begins with a question rather than an answer.

This statement reflects the philosophy, research, and artistic vision that shape my creative practice. Through the One-Line Concept, the symbolism of gold, and the expressive language of the human body, I explore identity, memory, belonging, and the invisible connections that unite us. By transforming personal and collective experiences into visual language, my work invites contemplation, dialogue, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be human.

Art, for me, is far more than the creation of images—it is a way of understanding what it means to be human.

My artistic practice explores the invisible connections between identity, memory, migration, body language, and the emotional landscapes that shape our lives. Working across painting, scenography, spatial storytelling, and visual research, I transform personal and collective experiences into visual narratives that invite contemplation rather than offer definitive answers.

Living and working across different cultural contexts has deepened my interest in the ways identity is continuously reshaped through movement, memory, belonging, and human connection. Rather than documenting these experiences directly, I seek to translate them into visual forms that resonate beyond language, nationality, or geography.

At the core of my practice is the One-Line Concept—a visual philosophy grounded in the belief that every human being is entrusted with one continuous journey through life. Beginning at birth and ending with our final breath, this uninterrupted line carries every memory, every choice, every wound, every hope, and every transformation. It may bend, fracture, fade, or disappear beneath the weight of experience, yet it never truly breaks. For me, this line embodies the uniqueness of every individual life while reminding us that our existence is both singular and irreplaceable. Each life is lived only once.

Body language forms another essential pillar of my practice.

My background in theatre, scenography, and visual arts has led me to explore the silent language of the human body. Before we learn to speak, our bodies already communicate fear, love, vulnerability, resistance, hope, and belonging. Movement, posture, gesture, and stillness often reveal emotions with a depth and honesty that words cannot express. Rather than portraying specific individuals, the figures within my work become universal human presences through which shared emotions can be experienced across cultures, languages, and identities.

My education in Interior Design and Scenography has profoundly shaped the way I construct each artwork. I approach every piece as a spatial experience rather than a static image, considering composition, movement, light, shadow, negative space, and symbolism as interconnected elements that build emotional environments. Within these spaces, the viewer is invited not simply to observe, but to enter, engage, and become part of the experience.

Alongside my studio practice, I develop workshops and creative programmes that encourage self-expression, communication, and emotional awareness through art. My ongoing research investigates the relationship between creativity and wellbeing, particularly through work with children, neurodiverse communities, and individuals adapting to new cultural environments. These experiences continue to strengthen my belief that art possesses the power not only to communicate, but also to heal, connect, empower, and create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued.

Ultimately, my work is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what often remains unseen. Rather than depicting the visible world, I seek to reveal the emotional narratives that lie beneath its surface, inviting viewers to recognise fragments of their own stories within the emotional landscapes I create.

I believe that art preserves memory, restores human connection, and reminds us that beyond every border, culture, language, or belief, we all share the same fragile and extraordinary journey.

One continuous line.

One shared humanity.
